Madh Island

Madh Island is surrounded by a small creek with Dana Pani beach and bounded by mangroves cutting it off from the mainland near Aksa. At low tide, one can almost walk across the beach sands from Dana Paani beach to Aksa Beach. The beach is quite dangerous to move out into the waters due to strong under water currents.
Erangal village is a lovely place on the Madh Island. Most of the the villagers here are traditional farmers cultivativating the adjoining farmlands. Now, Erangal is dominated by the several holiday cottages and bungalows. Madh Fort is said to be built by the Portuguese which is the prime attraction of the beach. The Church of St. Bonaventure, a Portuguese church, dating back to the 16th century, is another attraction on the island. The area is also known for its rave parties. Many movies and TV serials are also shot here.

The nearest railway station to the Madh Island is Malad about 12kms from Churchgate of Western Railway.
